About The Event
Every other Wednesday evening from August 29th through October 10th, the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue returns to the people. At Supper Sessions on the Avenue, hot meals, cold drinks, and table service come out onto the belgian blocks and trolley tracks, putting Mt. Airy’s food and drink scene in the spotlight.
The block’s ten restaurants—Chef Ken’s Cafe, Cresheim Valley Grain Exchange, Earth Bread + Brewery, Golden Crust, The Juice Room, Jyoti Indian Bistro, McMenamin’s Tavern, Mi Puebla, Trattoria Moma, and the new Nonna’s Pizza Tavern—are ready to serve up a taste of Mt. Airy, many with special dishes for Supper Sessions. Trolley Car Diner will bring its mobile beer-can-and-donuts shop; Frosted Fox Cake Shop, fresh off a winning performance on the Netflix original Sugar Rush, will bring the sweets.
Other businesses on the block—Queenie’s Pets, Rothe Florists, Handcraft Workshop, Blacqskirt, Nuono Vintage, The Shop on the Ave, Vendors’ Boutique, I Spy You Buy, Sandaga and more—will stay open late. As with last year, each week will also feature two rotating food trucks. And as with last year, we’ll have a special stainless steel collectible cup available for $10 which gets you a dollar off beers at the four bars on the block (Earth, McMenamin’s, Grain Exchange, and Nonna’s).
Inside the historic Sedgwick Theatre, Quintessence Theatre Group will open their ninth season in residency with Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, including performances on the last two nights of Supper Sessions (opening night 9/26 and 10/10). Back out on the Avenue, each week will feature a musical performance from a local artist, band, or DJ. Kids’ activities will be available starting at 5:30, including story time read by local reading advocates including Councilwoman Cindy Bass, State Rep. Chris Rabb, and others.
Finally, each week’s info tables will be manned by organizations grouped by a weekly theme:
8/29: Mt. Airy organizations
9/12: Civic Commons partners and civic organizations
9/26: Local holistic health practitioners
10/10: Northwest Coalition partners (Germantown, Chestnut Hill, East Falls, West Oak Lane, Roxborough & Manayunk)
It’s Supper Sessions on the Avenue, and it’s returning to the 7100 block of Germantown Avenue
